SAFE AND AFFORDABLE HOMES FOR ALL

Rising property prices has prompted the Hong Kong government to introduce “My Home Purchase Plan”—an initiative to provide subsidised housing for middle-income families. While affordable, the apartments need to maintain high levels of safety, aesthetics and functionality, prompting Jebsen Building Products to provide a customised door and hardware solution to project owner and main contractor.

For Greenview Villa in Tsing Yi, which is the first development under this project, Jebsen Building Products was commissioned to provide integrated doorset solutions. To contribute to a quality living space, it has supplied nearly 6,200 doorsets and over 40,000 related hardware items to the estate’s 988 residential units as well as the common areas and clubhouse.

The team chose uniquely designed timber panelled entry doors in crown-cut, straight-grain oak veneer as well as other interior timber doors from Shadbolt for their distinctive lines and well-crafted details. The naturally warm characteristic of wood also adds an inviting presence to apartments.

Safety was another a key consideration for Jebsen Building Products as Greenview Villa is a high-density estate with three towering blocks. Doors with fire resistance capabilities of 30 and 60 minutes fire resistance as well as safety glass vision panels were fitted to the kitchens and fire escape stairwells to help delay the spread of fire and smoke in the case of emergencies. As further assurance, the doors were fully tested to meet performance requirements before installation.

Understanding that hardware can affect the operation of doors if not properly selected and installed, Jebsen Building Products combined the strength of industry-leading hardware and accessories from GEZE, Hager, Dandy Locks and other brands in customising its hardware package for Greenview Villa.

As a complete solution provider, Jebsen Building Products’ value comes not only from handpicking the best doors and hardware for this project, but also in ensuring that the final solution is fully integrated. This has increased the fitting accuracy for Greenview Villa, particularly in the critical architectural ironmongery such as hinges, lock cases and concealed door closers. In addition, it also reduces the pressure placed on the door, frame and operating hardware and improves the overall durability and performance of the doorsets.

“For this project, we worked closely with the customer, taking the diverse and demanding requirements into careful consideration before proposing a comprehensive door and hardware solution. We also succeeded in the installation challenge—delivering a high-volume of building products and interior fit-out works in an exceptionally tight timeframe—through close monitoring and effective project management. The Greenview Villa project is a classic example of how we always ensure that our integrated solutions meet the project’s performance requirements in terms of safety and accessibility while offering our customers access to our extensive product range and complete technical service support,” said Vincent So, Managing Director, Jebsen Building Products.
