Jebsen Industrial invited to speak at key international event

The International Annual Congress of Automotive Industry is a gathering of industry representatives from around the world, designed to facilitate conversations from economic perspectives to technological developments. As it is regarded as one of the most important sector meetings of the industry, Jebsen Industrial was honoured to receive an invitation to speak at the 19th edition of the event, held from Oct 7-8 in Zwickau, Germany.

Representing the company was Mr Arnie Jensen, Director & General Manager of Jebsen Automotive Technik. In keeping with the event theme ‘Success through Visions’, he delivered an insightful presentation on ‘Successful Partnering in the Vast China Market’.

Entering an unfamiliar market

Mr Jensen began by assuring delegates that “growth is slower, but not lower” in China today and that the market still offers tremendous business opportunities. Using key market trends as an example, he shared that consumers are opting for smaller engine sizes but demanding greater performance. Companies can turn this into growth opportunities by offering the right technology solution—such as direct fuel injection systems and turbochargers. He emphasised that product segmentation and innovation are the key to succeeding in China’s automotive industry.

While there are many market entry strategies, Mr Jensen focused on localised joint venture partnerships. With Jebsen Automotive Technik having many as four ongoing joint ventures in China, he drew on experience to share tips on choosing the right local partner. He recommended that delegates conduct due diligence into potential partners’ corporate governance and highlighted potential pitfalls specific to the Chinese market.

Localisation is key

As a localisation expert, Mr Jensen also went on to share his expertise in this area. Localisation, in his opinion, goes beyond adapting products and solutions for the market. It can also contribute to cost efficiencies through localised purchasing including supplier quality management. A joint venture model also allows foreign companies to tap on their local partner’s workforce, facilities, network, market knowledge as well as sales and distribution channels. Using Jebsen Automotive Technik’s success in this area, Mr Jensen made a convincing argument about the benefits of a localised joint venture partnership.

Establishing thought leadership
