GREEN GROWTH FOR CHINA’S PLASTICS INDUSTRY

Date: 2014.04.23 ~ 2014.04.26

Venue: Shanghai New International Expo Centre

City: Shanghai, China

China’s plastics processing industry may be the world’s largest but it is not immune to the impact of the global economic uncertainty and rising costs. In Nov 2013, the China Plastics Processing Industry Association (CPPIA) estimated that the industry grew by 5% in the first nine months of the year, a figure significantly lower than the double-digit increases it previously enjoyed. While this still means that China has outperformed the 3% increase in 2012 worldwide plastics production, CPPIA cautions that with overcapacity and higher labour costs, the industry must shift from low-end consumer products to higher value products.

To help the domestic players make better use of technology to achieve sustainable long-term growth, Jebsen Industrial and five leading principals are preparing to present a suite of industry solutions at the upcoming CHINAPLAS 2014 (Apr 23-26, Shanghai). Billed as Asia’s top plastics and rubber trade fair, CHINAPLAS has accompanied the local plastics and rubber industries for nearly 30 years. Known in full as the International Exhibition on Plastic and Rubber Industries, the annual trade show is also the second most influential exhibition in the global arena. Its 2014 show is themed ‘Greenovation - Solution to Sustainability’ and is expected to outdo previous editions by attracting some 120,000 foreign and local trade visitors.
