China will overtake Japan, becoming the world’s second largest market for filmed entertainment behind the US by 2016, according to the PwC Global Entertainment & Media Outlook for 2014-2018. Notably, China is the only top-ranked emerging market and the consultancy firm expects it to be a key driver of growth for the global industry. In November 2014, the Chinese Film Producer’s Association (CFPA) was reported to have estimated that the Chinese box office would rake in a total of RMB30 billion for the year, with domestic films accounting for the majority of the market. In the same report, a CFPA representative shared that the number of screens and revenues in China are still growing by 30% annually.

With the domestic film market offering such tremendous potential, industry players are naturally eager to capitalise on opportunities. The Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Exhibition (BIRTV) is an excellent platform that gathers the latest developments and global innovations in one location. BIRTV is regarded as the most influential exhibition in Asia’s broadcast industry and for industry veterans like Jebsen Industrial, the annual tradeshow is a must-attend event.

With a focus on communication, creativity, convergence and cooperation, BIRTV echoes Jebsen Industrial’s industry philosophy. As a complete solutions provider from pre- to pre-post production, including filming equipment, accessories and systems, Jebsen Industrial has been leading China’s digital transformation with cutting-edge solutions sourced from around the world.

At BIRTV 2014, it stood out from over 500 other exhibiting companies with a 4m tall replica of a Transformer from the blockbuster Transformers: Age of Extinction. The imposing replica served as an onsite filming prop to help visitors experience the quality of filming equipment by Jebsen Industrial’s notable principals like Arri . It also underscored Jebsen Industrial’s value proposition of achieving cost and production efficiency by combining solutions from different suppliers in an optimal manner.
